Beautiful wine, camembert, buttery pastries, Chanel (with her tan), Provincial castles, markets with beautiful blooms, museums, cafes, Monmarte, Le Louvre, Tour Eiffel……

I think it’s time that I revisited SanCerre, France (or Paris at least!) the namesake of the brand that has grown so much in the past 6 years. I'm packing up my little man Albie and my mum and we're heading to Europe for a fresh injection of inspiration and perhaps just a little bit of beautiful food sampling. The upcoming trip has made me reflect on SanCerre (the business) and just how much we have evolved these past years. Never, in my wildest dreams, did I think SanCerre would become what it is today! Jewellery, clothing, bags, shoes….what next? Well I will just say stay tuned....after this next trip who knows!

Sneak Peak - The Coco

I'm loving this cute little knit from our new womens clothing range available in store and online late April/early May - The “Coco” cardi.

A trans-seasonal medium weight, two tone cotton knitted cardigan. Perfect teamed with a pencil skirt for work, or jeans for a laid back, polished look. As Coco Chanel so beautifully articulated - casual can still be elegant. The Coco is our tribute to Mademoiselle Chanel. A lady who was stylish, chic, courageous, creative, prodigious, mysterious, independent, confident, adored and triumphant…everything we aim to be.

I ’ve been wearing mine (yes, in Bali it does get chilly here in the morning and at night in March) with a white basic tank and denim cutoffs and a string of knotted SanCerre pearls. LOVE!

Sarah Wilkinson - My Island Life...

Last year, I decided that the best way to be efficient and maximize my output was to be the Queen of multi-tasking. Eating breakfast and sipping my latte purchased from a drive through café whilst plastering on makeup, talking on speaker phone to the office whilst driving to an appointment was the norm for me. I’m sure many of you can relate to this….?

My phone was always on and if it dinged with an email during the night, I would actually reach over and check it, reply then go back into a semi-sleep hoping to get an immediate answer to any questions I had asked in my email. I was sufferering from a well known debilitating medical condition called “gettingthingsdoneitis”

It’s no secret that rushing is a direct cause of rudeness, mishap and blunders. I had actually lost the ability to live in the moment, as I was always thinking of the next thing, or 20 things I had to do. Nothing and nobody were getting the best of me. Everything began to suffer. I had to SLOWDOWN!

So when the opportunity to spend more time in Bali arose, I grabbed it with both hands. The beautiful island paradise of rubber time. No-one could argue that this Island operates on it’s own time. A prime example; when I asked our house keeper how long it took to walk to the market, she replied, with out a trace of sarcasm “it depends how fast you walk”. Of course it does!

So I have taken my watch off, there are no alarm clocks (our neighbours do have a rooster though), there is no TV, no internet after work hours, I answer emails only when Albie (my son) is sleeping, make up has been replaced by tinted moisturizer, and we walk a lot instead of driving - He's only 13 months old, it would be a tad Britney Spears of me to take him on the scooter. Instead of rushing off to work I enjoy the mornings and spend more time in bed, I let Albie crawl all over me and occasionally we go back to sleep (a serious NO NO if you are a stickler for routine a la Gina Ford or Tizzie Hall).

We also do a lot of what I previously thought was a waste of time - we do nothing. I sit and watch Albie play or we stand and observe in the street. Indonesians are masters of this, I have taken a leaf out of their book.

We walk up the street to the warung or street vendor for dinner, watch them cook it whilst we sip on a young coconut and enjoy the interaction - a far cry from double parking the car and running in to grab take away worrying if you have the correct change to speed up the process.

This timely “timeout” is paying dividends. I haven’t felt this inspired or refreshed in a long time….all I can say is watch this space!

PS: SanCerre womens clothing is currently designed in Australia then made in Indonesia whilst our fashion jewellery is primarily Australian made - we get people asking all the time so just thought we'd clarify.....

SanCerre at Life In Style

Another trade fair down! Call me crazy but I actually get a thrill out of exhibiting- chatting to customers, seeing what’s new on the market, what’s not to like?!? (Standing for hours, bad cafeteria food, giving the same spiel over and over again….?)

At the recent Life In Style Trade Fair in Sydney we launched another trans-seasonal womens clothing collection which includes a small winter knits capsule - think chunky woollen jumper dresses and a winter focused “voyage” capsule- which washes well, wears well and no ironing (why limit to travel wear?).

The majority of the range is channeling a Spring/Summer vibe (we're already wishing for summer again!). Our “fresh” capsule has already proven to be very popular - cottons and lightweight rayons with detailed finishes: pintucking, smocking, paneled lace inserts, small button detailing, feminine ruffles that aren’t too frou frou. And for those familiar with our clothing - our signature fabric splicing (silk with jersey etc) continues to evoke delightful comments and be best selling pieces from the collection.

We kept our stand very simple at this seasons fair and let the clothes and jewellery do the talking.

Beautiful blooms by Buds and Bowers, Surry Hills, in white and greens were the perfect compliment to our fresh capsule and helped make the jewellery pop.

Just wanted to share some pics from last weeks shoot - a frantic one day shooting our second collection (before the first one has even hit stores) - so frantic but fun times! The beautiful Simmone was again our model (she has gone blonde to brunette for this one). Really happy with how things turned out and cant wait to share more info on the collection in the coming months.

SanCerre Clothing - we did it!

The successful launch of SanCerre clothing, which happened to coincide with the birth of my first child- a spunky red head named Albie (yes it was a crazy couple of months!), has afforded me (us) the luxury of living in Bali for the past two months to complete sampling of our second (and dare I say better) range.

Joining me of course was Mum (there's no show without Punch?!) and although we have worked hard to finish sampling within the allotted two months, we have definitively also slipped into the Balinese way of life- Nasi Goreng for breakfast, a scooter as preferred method of transport and greeting every person passed in the street with a well wish for their morning or afternoon.

Although we have enjoyed our time here immensely and loved all the people we have met and been lucky enough to work with, it is 4 month old Albie that has been the centre of attention and the focus of many conversations. It's so amazing to see grown Indonesian men so besotted and affectionate towards a baby they have never met! Indonesian people truly love babies and children, I think it has done him the world of good, to be introduced to so many loving faces at such a young age.

Sadly our time has drawn to an end, but we are excited to return home to see our first range hit the shelves. An easy to wear, easy to care for 5 capsule women’s range. The flattering designs available in three colours (black, dark cement and blush) are designed to be layered – just like our jewellery collections – allowing the wearer to work with different colours, textures, fabrics/materials to create your own unique look. Many of the new jewellery pieces launched earlier in the year have been introduced in colours to compliment the clothing.

Our second range, although expanded, is a finely tuned version of our first collection, still based around the layering concept. We will be shooting our catalogue for range 2 soon so stay tuned for more deets!

Supporting Breast Cancer Foundation

Summer Jewellery

When predicting fashion jewellery trends it can be difficult to get the right product to market at the right time. Trends are set by people not the organisations making product. SanCerre hit the streets early 2010 to find out what people were looking for this coming summer, what items would define their summer 10/11 wardrobe, what pieces of clothing or accessory items they were looking to purchase to make their own statement.

Majority rules! It was clear to see that people were hoping to be inspired by bursts of colour yet jewellery items that could also work in with the emerging fashion trends. Eclectic prints, beautiful feminine florals and pastels are all huge for summer.

Another successful trade show

SanCerre had a great trade fair at Life In Style in Melbourne last week. Very much enjoyed meeting existing and new customers. The feedback on the new ranges of fashion jewellery was wonderful, and preliminary sales indicate a successful spring/summer 2010 season. Hard to believe we are already thinking about winter next year! I've posted a few pics of our stand below....we took our customers right to the middle of all the action......beautiful Paris and the Eiffel Tower. Given we are a french inspired brand, no place more fitting. Enjoy!

New Products

Absolutely manic trying to get the new ranges to market. We've created some great new products, most very different than our current ranges.

The new Gillie range of necklaces are going to be a hit based on the feedback the sancerre girls get whenever they wear them. Some stunning colours and the quality of these necklaces has surpassed my expectations. We're hoping to launch to our wholesale customers late March, and our website soon after. Look forward to seeing what you think!

SanCerre Fashion Jewellery - interview with campaign model Erin McNamara.....

So tell us, how it felt to do your first modelling gig?
Erin: The experience was amazing. Not being a professional model made it tough at first, but having styled photo shoots before made the whole day a lot easier for me. I was extremely nervous when we started the day but by the end of the shoot I relaxed and had a lot of fun! My normal role in a shoot is always styling the models so it was great to have the opportunity to work from a models perspective.

How have you felt about the attention you have received since doing the campaign?
Erin: For me, the main response has been all about the new website and the amazing new fashion jewellery range at SanCerre. I have just been lucky to be part of the new campaign!
SanCerre: We think Ez is being a bit unassuming, she's gorgeous! And we've received many comments about her uniqueness and how beautiful she is in the shoot. No airbrushing here people! :)

What was your favourite part of the day?
Erin: I think being my first modelling gig made the whole day really exciting. It was an amazing experience being able to work so closely with the photographer and do my best to show the SanCerre Fashion Jewellery range in its best light.

Favourite SanCerre product?
Erin: The whole jewellery range is amazing. I love the bracelets and wear a stack of them every day! My favourite all time piece though is definitely the Gillie Necklace. http://www.sancerre.com.au/_product_66421/Gillie_Necklace

So what do you do when you aren’t looking fabulous in SanCerre campaigns?
Erin: At the moment I am studying fashion and events styling at the Whitehouse Institute of Design in Melbourne but am moving to Sydney shortly to continue my study and work. When I'm not studying I'm styling or working on my own fashion design projects. For the last year I have also been working at SanCerre.
